A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Customs Specialist (f/m/d), you ensure that customs-related processes run smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with applicable regulations. You combine hands-on operational customs activities with contributions to governance, compliance, harmonization, and process improvement initiatives across the four Business Areas in Germany.
In this role, you collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, customs authorities, external service providers, and international customs colleagues to ensure aligned and compliant import and export operations. Through your monitoring and expertise, you help ensure that procedures are executed correctly, documentation meets all legal requirements, and potential risks are identified and mitigated early.
As part of the Customs Region Europe network, you support the integration of regulatory changes into daily operations and contribute to continuous process improvements. Your work strengthens compliance, ensures audit readiness, and enhances the overall effectiveness of customs operations.
Your digital mindset is highly valued—innovative ideas and digital solutions that improve transparency, efficiency, and standardization are always welcome.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Execute and oversee daily import and export customs activities, including documentation review, tariff classification, preference determination, and customs value validation.
  • Prepare and validate customs documentation and ensure accurate and timely submissions to customs authorities while maintaining master data in SAP S/4HANA or MIC.
  • Ensure compliance with national, EU, and international customs regulations and support internal and external customs audits.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and contribute to the implementation of compliance measures and internal control requirements (ICP Europe).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Export Control, Logistics, Procurement, Finance, Tax, IT, and Country Customs Responsibles.
  • Drive process improvements, standardization, and digitalization initiatives while supporting strategic customs projects across the organization.
What You Bring
  • Completed degree or vocational qualification in Customs, International Trade, Business Administration, Law, or a comparable field.
  • Several years of professional experience in customs operations, including import/export procedures, tariff classification, customs valuation, and preferential origin.
  • Solid knowledge of EU customs regulations; experience working across multiple European countries is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with customs and ERP systems such as SAP, S/4HANA, or MIC.
  • Strong analytical and structured working style with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical solutions and communicate effectively in an international environment.
  • Fluent in English and German; additional European languages are a plus, with willingness to travel occasionally within Europe (approx. 10–20%).
