A Snapshot of Your Day

You have the opportunity to join Siemens Energy’s Electrical Network and Simulation Team as a highly motivated Working Student and contribute to the digital control of power electronic supply systems for large-scale hydrogen electrolysers.
In this role, you will support the implementation, development, and validation of microcontroller- and FPGA-based control concepts for converter systems. By contributing to innovative control solutions, you will help improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of industrial green hydrogen applications.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Development and implementation of control algorithms for power electronic converters in large-scale electrolyser supply systems
  • Programming and optimization of microcontroller- and FPGA-based control platforms for real-time converter operation
  • Modeling, simulation, and validation of control strategies, including current regulation, PWM generation, synchronization, and monitoring functions
  • Validation of converter and control system performance in a Controller Hardware-in-the-Loop (CHIL) environment with a focus on dynamic behavior
  • Analysis, visualization, and presentation of simulation and test results using MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or comparable engineering tools
  • Structured documentation of development activities, implementation steps, validation results, and technical findings to ensure reproducibility and knowledge transfer
What You Bring
  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Embedded Systems, Control Engineering, or a related field
  • Solid theoretical knowledge of power electronic converters and their control principles, combined with an interest in advanced power electronics applications
  • Practical experience in microcontroller and FPGA programming or digital control implementation gained through academic projects, coursework, or previous practical experience
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Simulink, Python, or comparable tools for modeling, simulation, validation, and data analysis
  • Knowledge of PCB design and hardware testing, as well as a strong motivation to contribute to innovative green hydrogen technologies
  • Strong willingness to learn, ability to work independently in a dynamic environment, commitment to continuous personal development, and excellent English communication skills
