A Snapshot of Your Day
The Rotating Equipment Repair Engineer at the Qatar Service Center is responsible for managing and defining the scope, schedule, and cost of repair projects. This role involves performing detailed inspection creating inspection reports and repair proposals for various turbomachinery equipment, including gas and steam turbines, compressors, and safety valves. The engineer will engage in technical discussions with clients to understand their requirements and provide updates on ongoing repair statuses. Collaboration with a diverse team of mechanics, machinists, weld technicians, inspectors, engineers, and project managers is essential, as the team works on critical turbomachinery equipment for clients in the oil, petrochemical, and power generation sectors.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Ensure all repair work adheres to the highest health, safety, and quality standards. Define activities required for incoming parts needing repair.
- Conduct detailed visual and dimensional inspections of incoming parts, documenting findings. Determine the scope of repair and present clients with various repair options, including both long-term and temporary solutions.
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports outlining possible repair solutions based on part conditions. Assist in supervising the dismantling, reconditioning, and assembly of equipment in accordance with established procedures and standards. Communicate with suppliers or service contractors as necessary, facilitating technical discussions to ensure compliance with service center requirements.
- Oversee and coordinate ongoing repair jobs and service center workload, guiding the team to ensure high-quality work is completed on time and safely, in line with Siemens Energy standards. Provide clear and detailed work instructions to the shop floor, suppliers, and contractors, referencing relevant repair and factory technical specifications, support Lean implementation projects.
- Review contractual terms and conditions related to service specifications.
- Monitor job costs closely to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred with 5+ years of experience in rotating equipment repairs (e.g., steam turbines, centrifugal compressors, gas turbines, reciprocating compressors, turbochargers, valves, dry gas seals).
- Basic knowledge of rotating equipment such as compressors and turbines. Familiarity with workshop tools, measuring instruments, and repair procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook is required.
- Ability to interpret shop instructions and manufacturing drawings.
- Dependability and punctuality are essential, with proactive communication during emergencies; occasional overtime may be required to support customer outages. Commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.
