As a Prototype Machinist at Siemens Energy, you will be at the forefront of our engineering efforts, crafting high-quality components that drive our innovation. How You’ll Make an Impact
• Create and optimise machining programs by developing efficient and error-free G & M code from drawings or design models.
• Set up and operate both manual and CNC lathes and milling machines, writing and testing programs, and making vital adjustments to achieve the desired precision.
• Inspect parts visually and take precise measurements to ensure conformance with customer requirements, addressing any quality issues promptly.
• Work closely with engineers and various departments to develop prototype compression mould tools, provide feedback, and support quick turnaround or rework requests as needed.
• Analyse CAD models or engineering specifications to resolve appropriate tools and most efficient sequence of tool operations.
• Plan and complete the sequence of tasks effectively, ensuring streamlined production processes.
• Support rapid prototyping and reworking parts efficiently, balancing speed with precision to meet engineering and production deadlines.
• Perform regular maintenance, identify machine issues, and complete minor repairs to ensure optimal machine performance.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised workstation, closely following workplace safety standards.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimise machining processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.

What You Bring
• Proven experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated, or automated machines (lathes, mills, etc.) from drawings and/or models.
• Understanding of CNC G & M code.
• Apprenticeship or vocational training preferred, with proven experience as a machinist.
• Knowledge of the properties of metal and other materials.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills.
• Good computer skills, with a familiarity with Autodesk Fusion or equivalent (from CAD to CAM).
• Solid understanding of safety protocols.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on quality, with the ability to follow detailed processes and instructions.
