A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)
The Project Procurement Professional in Proposals is the procurement lead in the proposal phase for Large Rotating Equipment (LRE) and represents the procurement function to the project organization and the customer in the Americas Region.
The PPMP role crafts the project procurement budget for GT auxiliaries, introduces sourcing strategies, works with the buyers to get quotes, and estimates costs for special purchases to contribute to the success of the project and operative results.
The PPMP must also champion the proposal needs within the procurement department to ensure all team members are working towards the proposal deadlines and goals.
The PPMP reports directly to the Procurement Manager.
How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)
- Serve as the single point of contact between the procurement and proposal teams, leading resources to develop costs for purchase resale non-standard equipment.
- Identify procurement risks, market forces, and opportunities to mitigate non-conformances and improve Siemens’ cost position and customer benefits.
- Develop proposal-level delivery schedules aligned with procurement resources and supplier capacities while ensuring proposal deadlines are met.
- Support proposal cost calculations, including supplier-related and procurement labor costs, and ensure compliance with company policy on project cancellations.
- Prepare project forecasts and collaborate with procurement, finance, and project management teams to improve execution and resolve technical or administrative issues.
- Ensure transparency in resource availability, provide early warnings of deviations, support project handovers, and offer mentorship or training to support staff.
What You Bring (requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related field
- 5+ years of successful experience in purchasing, project / proposal management, or similar role managing sophisticated objectives in a matrix organization
- Applies broad and complex knowledge of specialization to complete moderately complex assignments while demonstrating a strong understanding of the organization’s business practices and contributing to problem resolution.
- Works independently or collaboratively in a dynamic environment with domestic and international teams, maintaining an organized and disciplined approach.
- Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to travel up to 10% domestically or internationally.
