A Snapshot of Your Day

This is a manufacturing management position responsible for overseeing all business and technical aspects of the Excitation and Test Centers of Competency—from manufacturing scope definition and costing through process implementation. This business provides both new product and service replacement components, as well as components for modernization and upgrading programs. The position reports to the Plant Manager of Generator Operations in Charlotte, NC.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Manage a diverse production workforce, including exciter core building, exciter winding, testing, final assembly, and a professional staff of supervisors, manufacturing engineers, and production planners.
  • Manage an operating budget covering wages/benefits, shop supplies and tooling, contractors, and rendered services.
  • Oversee capital projects from conceptualization to installation and startup.
  • Manage complex manufacturing processes for new apparatus and service products, spanning multiple designs, to produce generator stators and generator stator components.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service in both the factory and the field service organization.
  • Integrate engineering, project management, manufacturing engineers/supervisors, and operators into a cohesive team.
  • Communicate effectively across multiple layers of the organization—from operators to plant management—as well as with customer representatives.
  • Maintain a sound grasp of engineering principles; generator and excitation product knowledge is highly desired.
  • Analyze business issues and present action plans logically.
  • Apply strong knowledge of Production Systems, Lean Manufacturing, and/or Continuous Process Improvement.

What You Bring

  • BS degree in Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for machining, welding, and assembly.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a direct manager for non-exempt employees.
  • Prior experience managing financial aspects of a product line preferred.
  • Prior experience in Lean Manufacturing preferred.
  • Candidates with more experience may be considered for a higher-level position.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
