A Snapshot of Your Day

Imagine working at the forefront of offshore wind power, where your simulations directly support safe, stable and reliable grid integration of large-scale wind power plants. As part of the Offshore Grid Support Simulation team, your day revolves around developing and configuring electrical models for wind turbines and wind power plants, investigating real grid events, and collaborating with experts across the organization and with customers. Your work helps ensure that our solutions meet grid code requirements and continue to perform under some of the most demanding grid conditions worldwide.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Development of project specific electrical models of wind power plants for grid connection studies in PSCAD and DigSilent PowerFactory. You will be focusing on grid parameter configuration to comply grid code requirements, model testing and manage model delivery to customer for offshore wind turbines and wind park controllers
  • Grid event investigations such as deviation of performance for events as for example grid oscillations or Fault Ride-through. Also, applicable for offshore wind turbines and wind park controllers
  • Development of core electrical simulation models for offshore wind turbines in various simulation tools as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD and PowerFactory. This comprises also automatic code generation for generation of DLLs and later integration into PSCAD and PowerFactory.
  • Benchmarking and validation of wind turbine models against reference data.
  • Support to customers, either external or internal, regarding issues related to simulation models delivered

What You Bring

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems, or a closely related field
  • High level of proficiency in English, both written and spoken, to optimally communicate technical concepts and collaborate with team members
  • Minimum of 2 year of experience in electrical power engineering modeling and simulation, demonstrating a strong understanding of the field.
  • Sophisticated experience with at least one of the following simulation tools: PSCAD, DigSilent PowerFactory (RMS) or PSS/E
  • Experience with MATLAB & Simulink for model development
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python scripting, C/C++, Fortran and DPL is a plus, along with strong skills in MS Office, power electronics converters control modeling (e.g. current control, voltage control), and a proven foundation in mathematics and electrical engineering principles
  • Desirable experience with wind turbines (Full Converter and/or Doubly Fed technologies) or other converter-based technologies (e.g., PV, HVDC, STATCOM, Energy Storage) and generation units (e.g., hydro power plants)
  • Knowledge of execution of power system studies: load flow, dynamic simulations, transient stability, harmonic analysis, fault ride-through.

About the Team

You will join the Offshore Grid Support Simulation team, a specialist group working closely with engineering, projects, customers and grid operators. The team plays a key role in enabling reliable offshore wind power integration by delivering high-quality simulation models and deep technical expertise across the project lifecycle.
