A Snapshot of Your Day
As an O&M Field Engineer at Siemens Energy, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our Millbrook OCGT power plant in Bedford. Your day will combine hands-on maintenance, technical troubleshooting, outage support, and close coordination with our remote operations and project teams.
Working within a fast-paced operational environment, you’ll support critical power generation assets that help provide energy security across the UK. You’ll collaborate with specialist contractors, customers, and engineering teams while helping drive plant reliability, operational performance, and continuous improvement. This role also offers opportunities to support additional OCGT sites across the fleet, broadening your technical exposure and experience.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Operate and maintain plant equipment in line with OEM guidance, engineering best practice, and UK safety and environmental regulations.
- Lead and support site maintenance, engineering activities, contractor management, and outage execution to ensure safe and reliable plant performance.
- Diagnose faults, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions to maximise equipment reliability and operational availability.
- Support planned and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring efficient return-to-service of plant and equipment.
- Utilise computerized Plant Management Systems for maintenance execution, reporting, material requests, and operational tracking.
- Support Siemens Energy’s Asset Care Programme, including asset criticality assessments, condition-based maintenance, and data engineering activities.
- Ensure compliance with EQS requirements, ISO management systems, and all plant safety procedures.
- Act as an Authorised or Senior Authorised Person when required, maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational compliance
- Work closely with customers, contractors, and project teams to support outage planning, engineering improvements, and operational excellence initiatives.
What You Bring
- Minimum of 5 years’ operational or maintenance experience within power generation, heavy industry, or a similar process environment.
- Strong technical understanding of Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation (E,C&I) systems and plant maintenance practices.
- Experience supporting rotating equipment, plant operations, fault finding, and troubleshooting activities.
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety practices and safe systems of work within operational environments.
- Experience supervising contractors and coordinating engineering activities on site.
- Self-motivated with strong organisational and prioritisation skills in a dynamic operational environment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across operational and engineering teams.
- Preferably educated to HNC level or equivalent in an engineering discipline
- IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification would be advantageous.
