A Snapshot of Your Day

We are excited to offer an exceptional 1-year Internship opportunity designed specifically for students who are looking for a placement position. At Siemens Gamesa, we are looking for motivated interns to join our team, where you will have the chance to apply your academic knowledge, develop new skills, and contribute to impactful projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience, network with industry professionals, and make a meaningful impact in a supportive and innovative environment. If you’re ready to take the next step in your career journey, we invite you to apply and become a part of our forward-thinking team.

You will work within the Electromagnetic Team to develop highfidelity electromagnetic finiteelement (FE) models for large directdrive offshore wind turbine generators. A typical day may include preparing simulation setups, running electromagnetic analyses, evaluating model outputs, comparing results with historical generator test data, and refining modelling workflows. You will collaborate with experienced electromagnetic engineers, gaining exposure to industrialscale electrical machine design and validation activities.

How You’ll Make an Impact

As an Engineering Intern, your role will be supporting the EMAG Specialist Team in the design and analysis of wind turbine generators. The specific, but not limited to, tasks would include:

  • magnet synchronous generators used in offshore wind turbines.
  • Conducting simulations to evaluate machine performance characteristics such as flux distribution, torque production, inductances, and losses.
  • Comparing FE results with historical test data to assess the accuracy and consistency of the models.
  • quality design assessments.
  • Assisting in documenting methodologies, assumptions, results, and validation metrics for internal engineering use.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of simulation approaches, analytical robustness, and engineering traceability.

What You Bring

  • You must be studying for a degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE).
  • A passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change.
  • Have good knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • An understanding or experience of general electrical engineering concepts, i.e., electrical machines,
  • power-electronics, electromagnetism, etc.
  • You will have excellent problem-solving skills with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Ability to communicate within a team and across all levels, including customers, suppliers and external
  • stakeholders.
  • Be proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to set priorities and manage to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work methodically and independently where applicable.
  • An eagerness to learn and a can-do attitude.
