A Snapshot of Your Day 

The High Voltage Substation Service Technician is responsible for the environmentally safe performance of in-service high voltage substations. Execute technical field assignments involving the monitoring, service, and/or repair of substation equipment. May recommend corrective measures to improve field service operations and customer service. May be assigned other work, individually, or as part of a larger electrical substation / power plant project. Reports directly to Field Service Manager. If a problem occurs or alarm, the technician will notify Client personnel, O&M as needed and collaborate/troubleshoot with Siemens Engineering Subject Matter Expert on active alarms and or problem at hand. Will need to be on-call for split duration of time with another colleague.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Perform all aspects of maintenance and repair on live substations, in addition to maintaining functionality of tools and equipment. Perform duties in accordance to industry regulations and standards.
  • Perform preventive / corrective maintenance, software, tools as well as spare parts inventory.
  • Assist in the repair of equipment, applying own knowledge and experience to resolve problems. Recommend changes or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, (written and/or verbal), regarding safety, (i.e. tailgate meetings), security or environmental incidents, safety violations or near misses.
  • Coordinate personal lodging and travel and other transportation, as needed.
  • Responsible for completing time & expense and field service job reports, using on-line/administrative tools or software.

What You Bring 

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required. A technical degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 10 or more years of direct, hands-on experience is preferred. A combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Must have demonstrated working knowledge of OEM substation equipment.
  • Must have impeccable interpersonal communication skills and be able to solve complex problems dealing with high voltage substation issues.
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
