As our Head of Technical Sales and Bid Management, you will join the Substations Offshore AC Centre of Competency in Ballerup, Denmark - leading a high‑performing team that plays a pivotal role in the global energy transition. You will own the full acquisition cycle for both offshore substation projects worldwide and onshore substation projects locally, shaping winning strategies and value‑driven tenders through a balance of technical leadership, commercial insight, and customer focus.
In this role, you guide the tendering and technical sales organization through the entire front‑end process—from market engagement to contract signature—while empowering your team to deliver differentiated, customer‑centric solutions. You will drive alignment across sales, tendering, engineering, procurement, and project execution, ensuring a unified go‑to‑market approach. Your leadership will strengthen discipline, efficiency, and collaboration across the organization, building a resilient sales and tendering function that consistently delivers high‑quality, competitive proposals and secures successful outcomes for the business.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Strategic Leadership & Market Focus
- In collaboration with GT Sales, you will define and execute the global offshore and local onshore sales strategies in alignment with Grid Technologies Substations’ overall vision.
- Leverage in‑depth market understanding—including customer ecosystems, segment trends, regulatory mechanisms, and the competitive landscape—to prioritize opportunities.
- Translate market intelligence into actionable business plans, customer value propositions, and a robust opportunity pipeline.
- Technical Sales Performance & Bid Execution
- Lead the front‑end acquisition cycle, ensuring strong opportunity management, accurate forecasting, and disciplined commercial governance.
- Build long‑standing strategic customer partnerships by demonstrating how our Substation solutions deliver reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence.
- Strengthen competencies in solution selling, enabling the team to articulate lifecycle value, risk management, and the digital and AI‑driven benefits of our substation solutions.
- Demonstrate commercial leadership with a deep understanding of FIDIC contract models, commercial risk allocation, and complex EPC negotiations.
- Ensure robust risk management, cost estimation, and contract negotiation practices across all tenders, maintaining adherence to company policies, governance, and ethical standards.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, develop, and inspire a diverse international team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Build team capability in competitive tendering excellence, commercial acumen, and customer‑centric value creation across global markets.
- Promote talent development, knowledge sharing, and global best practices across the technical sales and tender management communities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with execution teams, central functions, and global business partners to ensure seamless alignment from acquisition through project delivery.
- Provide strategic input to global planning cycles, business strategies, and portfolio development.
- Oversee the full tender lifecycle, ensuring quality, competitiveness, and compliance across all bids.
- Lead the development and implementation of tendering strategies aligned with market demands and business objectives.
- Ensure rigorous approaches to risk management, cost estimation, contractual evaluation, and governance.
- Represent the department in executive forums, customer engagements, and strategic dialogues, driving continuous process improvement.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and consortium partners while monitoring market and competitor developments.
- Cultivate a learning‑focused environment that supports lessons learned, transparency, and ongoing improvement in all sales and tendering activities.
What You Bring
- Extensive market knowledge of AC offshore grid connections.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- Strong organizational skills, a structured working style, and a proactive “can‑do”
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with Salesforce CRM.
- Ability to thrive in an international, multicultural environment across multiple business units, collaboration partners, and customer interfaces.
- Proven experience managing tenders or EPC turnkey projects—onshore and offshore—preferably within the offshore wind grid‑connection sector.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with executive stakeholders and build strong customer relationships.
- Experience leading cross‑functional, cross‑country teams, with deep understanding of technical, commercial, and contractual project management.
- Strong leadership qualities with a track record of developing high‑performing teams and driving continuous improvement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
