A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Hardware expert for HVDC Control and Protection you will work within a team of HVDC project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions for both wind farm grid connections and interconnectors making use of a new transient network analysis laboratory located in Manchester.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Prepare hardware designs and circuit diagrams for control & protection panels for high voltage DC transmission (HVDC) systems
- Handling the corresponding technical documents, cost calculations, circuit diagrams and manuals during offer stage and project execution
- Design of BCU-based substation control systems for high voltage direct current systems (HVDC)
- Programming of databases for hardware configuration and signal management
- Implementation of control software as well as verification using simulation tools and real-time test environments
- Supervision of workshops during panel manufacturing process and support by the acceptance/functional tests including occasional business trips
- Clarification of technical requirements within project teams and with customers and suppliers
- Preparation of work packages for sub-suppliers including controlling of these work packages
- Remote support during commissioning and service of HVDC systems
What You Bring
- University degree in electrical engineering or comparable professional training with significant professional experience
- Excellent knowledge of hardware for control & protection panels for high voltage substations or energy generation or transmission plants
- Very good knowledge in parameterisation of bay control units (BCUs), ideally of SIPROTEC 5 devices with DIGSI and CFC (Continuous Flow Chart)
- Very good CAE knowledge, ideally in the tool Engineering Base
- Experience in Measuring and Instrumentation technologies for high voltage transmission systems and ideally knowledge of Power Quality and Fault Recording Systems
- Solid understanding in high voltage and substation technology as well as in the design of interlocking schemes and automated control sequences
- Good knowledge in secondary interfaces of high voltage components such as switching devices, transformers, CTs and VTs
- Very good English language skills, German language skills are of an advantage
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for result-oriented and creative development of our projects, focus on high quality execution of our solutions
