A Snapshot of Your Day
In this pivotal role, you will lead and support operational activities for High-Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) systems, ensuring that service delivery aligns with contractual and safety standards. Your focus will be on three core areas: strategic management of HVDC service operations, technical and safety leadership for operational teams, and commercial and stakeholder management. This structure allows you to oversee the entire service delivery lifecycle, from operational planning to customer relationship management. The ideal candidate will be a recognized expert in HVDC systems, with extensive experience in managing large-scale electrical infrastructure, a strong background in electrical engineering, and a commitment to health and safety.
How You’ll Make an Impact
HVDC Operations & Service Delivery Management (50%)
- Establish and oversee strategic operational plans for HVDC asset maintenance and service delivery across the UK & Ireland.
- Manage daily operations, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and quality standards.
- Develop and refine operational processes to enhance efficiency and service quality.
- Monitor operational performance using key metrics and prepare reports for senior leadership.
Technical & Safety Leadership (30%)
- Provide expert technical guidance to the operations team on complex HVDC system issues.
- Champion and enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards across all operational sites.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and conduct regular audits and risk assessments.
- Oversee quality assurance programs to maintain high standards of technical service.
Commercial & Stakeholder Management (20%)
- Manage operational budgets and financial forecasting for the HVDC operations portfolio.
- Act as the primary operational contact for key customers, ensuring satisfaction and identifying growth opportunities.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Have or willing to complete Training for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status and NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in operations management within the power transmission or heavy electrical industry.
- Proven experience with HVDC systems or related high-voltage technologies.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including budget and customer management.
- Full UK Driving License
