A Snapshot of Your Day

A Commodity Manager is an owner of a respective commodity (Software / Application Management Service / IT Consulting), focused on the relevant Business Area, Execution Unit or Independent Managed Business (IMB). The Commodity Manager develops and implements a resilient strategy for a mandated commodity or sub commodities in line with the overall Ecosystem strategy, business strategy, and business objectives. Commodity Manager derives and implements a global strategy and concept for standardized, lean and efficient sourcing processes including an e2e process responsibility within the global commodity or sub commodities.  


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Manages the commodities or sub-commodities for the respective area (Software or Application Management Service, IT Consulting) of responsibility in a global or regional scope. 
  • Defines the sourcing strategy in the respective area of responsibility with cross-functional counterparts and support from GCMs, and in alignment with business, and provides input for ecosystem strategy.
  • Leads the Commodity Circle in the respective area of responsibility with the support of cross-functional team members and ensures transparency on cost structures and spend in the area of responsibility via Commodity Circles.
  • Creates and implements business-specific initiatives and measures based on respective commodity strategy in alignment with SE Ecosystem strategy and business objectives and increases Managed Spend in the area of responsibility by safeguarding awarding following the defined commodity strategy. 
  • Maintains a competitive supply base in alignment with Ecosystem strategy and Commodity Circle (focus on Strategic partners and Core Suppliers) & Strong process knowledge and experienced in lean and efficient processes and process optimization Basic Project Management experience. 
  • Drives supply/supplier management processes (e.g., qualification, selection, evaluation, development, and classification) and early procurement / supplier involvement and cost-out activities via respective Commodity Circles.
  • Feedback supplier market information and knowledge to stakeholders through the network.
  • Identifies procurement risks and opportunities and implement respective measures. Generates, documents and implemens savings measures; monitors and reports relevant KPI Leadership   
  • Executes periodic strategic procurement activities: negotiations planning, commodity strategy updates, awarding strategy and sourcing board approvals, quarterly review meetings, etc. 
  • Prepares, negotiates, awards and makes available frame contracts & price lists for strategic suppliers in accordance with business and market requirements. Manages the relationship with assigned strategic suppliers (in alignment with GCM) 
  • Support global strategy/concept for standardized, lean and efficient sourcing processes within global commodity and further optimize global processes. - Implementation of catalogue solutions wherever possible for supporting "one Click" efficient order process. 
  • Ensure a global e2e processes responsibility of the global commodity sourcing and purchasing process.  

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or related field.  
  • 2-4 years of work experience in the procurement area and a proven track record, ideally in a global organization.  
  • Strong commercial and technical understanding and knowledge of procurement, project management, and international contract law.  
  • Experience in advanced international negotiations and Strategic Sourcing Project / Process Variety of Function Areas Variety of Function Types Intercultural/ Language. 
  • Capable of working in multicultural teams Variety of Cultures.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams, leading without authority. 
  • Strategic Thinking.  
  • Good communication skills in English.
