A Snapshot of Your Day
We are seeking an Engineering Lead will oversee all engineering activities for the High Voltage (HV) Substation business, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and high-quality design and execution of substation projects from concept through commissioning. This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team, interfacing with clients, supporting business development, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and regulations. The Engineering Lead will also drive innovation and continuous improvement to maintain the company’s competitive advantage in the HV substation market.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead the design and engineering of HV substations (≥110kV), including primary, secondary, and protection systems
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet IEC, IEEE, and national grid standards, as well as customer specifications.
- Review and approve technical drawings, single-line diagrams, protection & control schemes, and general arrangement layouts.
- Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and protection engineers for integrated design solutions.
- Provide technical guidance during installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Manage and mentor the engineering team, including performance reviews, skills development, and resource allocation.
- Foster a collaborative environment across design, procurement, and project management teams.
- Ensure project engineering schedules align with overall project timelines.
- Implement quality assurance and control processes for engineering outputs.
- Support bid preparation by reviewing specifications, preparing technical proposals, and estimating engineering hours.
- Collaborate with sales, procurement, and construction teams to ensure competitive and feasible solutions.
- Act as a technical point of contact for customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
- Drive value engineering initiatives to optimize costs and performance.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering (Power Systems focus preferred).
- Minimum 10+ years in power transmission/distribution projects.
- Proven track record in leading engineering teams for EPC or utility projects.
- Expertise in primary & secondary design for HV substations (AIS/GIS).
- Strong knowledge of protection & control systems, SCADA, and automation.
- Familiarity with design software (ETAP, DIgSILENT, AutoCAD, EPLAN, etc.).
- Strong leadership and team management skills, including motivation and inspiration.
- English fluency, Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, focused on relationship building and collaboration.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Strategic thinking with a hands-on approach.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
