A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)

Overview: The primary purpose of this position is to set up, operate, and maintain a variety of manual and CNC equipment. The Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various machines to produce high-quality parts according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machining principles, excellent technical skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Receive assignments, oral and/or written, from supervision:
  • Sample of job requirements:
  • Read instructional material necessary to perform operations
  • Create straightforward NC programs at the controller
  • Perform setup of work piece; install tooling, fixtures, download CNC programs, and make required settings and adjustments
  • Make minor repairs to tooling, fixtures, and equipment as required or return to proper area for replacement or repair.
  • Run a variety of equipment to create a complete part, as directed by part router
  • Work with Engineering, as needed
  • Provide thorough carryovers to minimize confusion and/or loss of time
  • Notify supervision/maintenance of irregularities or equipment malfunctions
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment
  • Keep work area clean, orderly, and safe
  • Understanding and working to within schedule requirements

What You Bring (requirements)

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Equivalent to a high school education is acceptable, technical certification or vocational training in machining preferred.
  • Requires the ability to read, write, complete simple forms, and understand simple written instructions.
  • Requires the ability to perform arithmetic skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, including decimals and fractions.
  • Could require simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, or diagrams.

Preferred Expertise

  • Familiarity of CNC and/or Manual Machines, 1-2 years’ experience in a machine shop is preferred Proven experience as a machinist in a production shop environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to setup and run multiple machine shop equipment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to follow routers and sign off own work.
  • Must work well with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve expected targets and quality
