A Snapshot of Your Day

This position is critical for developing and scaling production capabilities to meet increased demand. To address the need for increased production capacity, this role focuses on three core areas: analyzing production processes to identify automation opportunities, managing automation projects from conception to implementation, and ensuring continuous process optimization. Key activities include collaborating with suppliers and internal teams, tracking project budgets and timelines, and implementing solutions based on technologies like robotics and PLCs. Given the focus on automation and process improvement, the ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manufacturing engineering with demonstrated experience in automation projects, lean manufacturing, and an interest in applying AI for productivity gains. 

How You’ll Make an Impact

55% Automation Project Management & Implementation

• Design, develop, and implement new automated production processes and equipment layouts to support the Orion project ramp-up.

•Track automation project progress to ensure adherence to budget and timeline.

•Collaborate with suppliers and other technical departments to define automation equipment needs and derive solutions.

•Manage the installation and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment and automation systems, ensuring they meet operational and safety standards.

•Provide input to product design engineering on technical specifications that optimize for automated manufacturing techniques (Design for Manufacturing).

27% Manufacturing Process Optimization

•Analyze in-house production processes to identify and calculate potential for automation.

•Troubleshoot and resolve difficult production problems related to automation, equipment, and process variables to minimize downtime.

•Investigate and propose emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance productivity and process efficiency.

•Conduct tests and gather data throughout all stages of production to determine control over key variables and validate process improvements.

•18% Quality Assurance & Documentation

•Ensure all production processes, procedures, and equipment are in compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements.

•Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for production processes, equipment specifications, and operational procedures.

•Apply statistical process controls (SPC) to monitor process capability and drive quality enhancements.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation, or a related technical field.

• 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing process or automation engineering role, preferably within a high-precision production environment.

• Strong background in manufacturing engineering with demonstrated experience in automation projects, lean manufacturing, and an interest in applying AI for • Relevant engineering discipline and practical experience in a high-precision production environment are essential for success in this role.
