Snapshot of your day
As the Senior professional for Processes and Quality in Global Classification, you will act as a subject matter expert, driving the standardization and optimization of customs processes across the organization. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with international trade regulations and internal control programs, with a primary focus on enhancing the quality and efficiency of our customs operations. Your core responsibilities will include the evaluation, planning, and documentation of customs processes, particularly concerning EU tariff classification. You will define and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through internal audits and spot checks to maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
A key part of your role will be creating and communicating relevant guidelines and providing expert oversight to operational customs teams. You will serve as a critical interface between the business, internal stakeholders (such as Logistics, Engineering, Procurement, Tax, and Sales), and internal customs team members.
How you’ll make a difference
Process Management and Optimization
- Evaluate and plan customs processes in alignment with the Internal Control Program (ICP) for customs.
- Develop, document, and communicate customs guidelines and directives, with a special focus on EU tariff classification.
- Model and re-engineer customs-related workflows to enhance efficiency and compliance
Quality Assurance and Performance Monitoring
- Define, monitor, and review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational quality and efficiency.
- Conduct internal audits and spot checks on customs processes and classification activities.
- Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Identify and manage customs compliance risks.
Stakeholder Management and Advisory
- Act as the primary Global Classification Processes and Quality representative in the region and as interface for quality, procedural and substantive matters.
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Legal, Tax, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, Sales) to ensure integrated and compliant trade operations.
- Provide expert guidance and support during customs audits and regulatory inquiries and offer professional leadership to classification teams.
What you bring
- Degree in a relevant field such as Finance (specializing in Customs), Business Administration, International Trade or Engineering.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant customs and foreign trade regulations (e.g., Export/Import, AEO, Preferences)
- Proven experience in tariff classification processes and methodologies.
- Extensive professional experience in customs operations (Import/Export), with a strong focus on tariff classification within the EU.
- Good knowledge of EU tariffs is a must-have.
- Good ability to understand the risks and implications of misclassification to define and implement corrective actions.
- Business fluent in English is a must have. Proficiency in other languages such as Swedish is a big advantage.
- Project management experience is an advantage.
- Flexible for up to 25% travels domestic and international.
You will play a key role in driving projects forward, making strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills essential.
