A Snapshot of Your Day

As an Operations Engineer within the Grid Enhancing Technologies Operations Team, you will focus on the engineering and execution of Switchgear Condition Monitoring solutions, including Partial Discharge, Gas Density, and Circuit Breaker Monitoring.

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for producing electrical engineering deliverables such as detailed drawings and schematics and integrating these into comprehensive project documentation. You will work with signals and interfaces from third-party panels and systems installed in substations, ensuring seamless compatibility and integration.

By joining Siemens Energy, you will contribute to delivering innovative monitoring systems that extend asset life, enhance safety, and optimize performance for high-voltage installations around the world, as part of a global leader in energy technology.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Prepare electrical design deliverables for monitoring systems, including wiring/loop diagrams, system architecture, schematics, panel arrangements, cable lists, and BOMs.
  • Integrate Switchgear Condition Monitoring solutions into AIS/GIS projects, ensuring compatibility with project drawings and site interfaces.
  • Review customer single-line diagrams (SLDs) and technical specifications, participate in design reviews, and manage documentation revisions (For Approval, For Construction, As-Built).
  • Develop comprehensive installation, commissioning, and field wiring documentation.
  • Apply digital substation practices, configuring communication protocols such as IEC 61850, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104, DNP3, and OPC UA; size and verify AC/DC power distribution and thermal performance of panels; support Factory/Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT), commissioning, and “As-Built” data updates.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality (PPM) to ensure compliance with standards, and with Marketing & Sales for updates on deliverables as required.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering for industrial or utility projects; motivated graduates with strong technical skills are welcome.
  • Knowledge of high voltage systems and substation automation concepts, with familiarity in IEC 61850 and other communication protocols as a plus.
  • Ability to read and produce electrical schematics and layouts, with basic knowledge of thermal and electrical load calculations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD; experience with engineering tools such as database management and SAP is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken), Category B driving license, valid passport for EU travel, and willingness to travel up to 30%.
