A Snapshot of Your Day
As an Operational Safety Lead, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the Siemens Energy Operational Safety Rules (OSR). You will ensure that these rules and associated documentation are effectively communicated to operational staff and contractors, fostering a culture of safety within the team.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Conduct engineering safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSR, approved procedures, and national legislation.
- Collaborate with HVDC and Grid Access Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment under the OSR.
- Provide support and advice on Operational Safety matters to operational teams and senior management.
- Deliver training and mentorship to employees on the OSR and approved procedures.
- Stay updated with industry standards and regulations related to Operational Safety, supporting the implementation of necessary changes to company policies and procedures.
- Investigate and analyse Operational Safety incidents and near misses, developing strategies to prevent future occurrences.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and industry organisations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure adequate training and materials are available to support the application of the OSR.
- Deputise for the Operational Safety Rules Manager as secretary of the Operational Safety Rules Committee when required.
- Serve as a point of contact for all Safety Action Plans within the business, acting as a point of escalation.
What You Bring
- Minimum of HNC in Electrical Engineering or relevant experience.
- Holds (or recently held) a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) Operational Authorisation in the Utilities or Power Generation industry.
- Experienced in High Voltage safety management with a strong knowledge of Electrical Safety legislation, codes of practice, and standards.
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with multi-discipline teams.
- Previous experience in an Operational Safety role, with a hybrid working style is desirable. This would include remote and on-site/office working, with some travelling when required.
- Full UK Driving License.
