This role is perfect for someone with strong technical abilities, where every single day presents new and exciting challenges. The Production Planner has many responsibilities and is the heartbeat of the team. Working closely with the Shop Floor and the Technical team, they ensure that the quoted durations for each project are accurate and prioritized for implementation within the specified timeline. They are also responsible for reporting out schedules for status to Customers.

The service side of our portfolio provides a dynamic scheduling challenge for production planning as scope of work and resource challenges make every day different and exciting! We work closely with a multi-discipline team to gather information, assess resources, adjust plans and report out information.

How You’ll Make an Impact

The primary job requirements of this position are to plan and schedule the projects and resources for the Steam Turbine Rotor Shop.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create and maintain production schedules to ensure each project is completed on time.
  • Consolidate information from Tendering, Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing, Shop Floor and resource management to implement each project successfully.
  • Perform resource analysis of all projects currently queued for manufacture and anticipate resource conflicts to provide accurate quoting for emergent work. Support personnel requirements planning.
  • Provide schedules from Microsoft Project to Marketing, Purchasing, Order Management, Project Management, Technical Services, Internal and External Customers to support materials planning and keep internal and external Customers informed of progress.
  • Work closely with production supervision, daily planning and operators to set priorities, ensure smooth production flow and minimize impacts of dynamic schedules and create a monthly forecast for achieving production and financial goals for the Steam Rotor Shop.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process and abide by all company policies regarding safety, quality, housekeeping, and performance expectations.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a Manufacturing or Engineering related concentration with 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • A background with planning in a highly dynamic environment and an ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams to collaborate and coordinate the best schedule efforts.
  • The ideal applicant will have experience with Microsoft Projects and SAP, along with proficiency in Windows based programs like Excel and Word.
  • Provide leadership in the Rotor Shop to conduct meetings and guide daily priority planning to successful execution of Product Work scope.
  • Strong communication skills are extremely important as well as flexibility to respond on nights and weekends when needed to support urgent customer projects in the factory.

About the Team

The Steam Rotor department is a diverse team supporting our Customers with new and service steam rotors of a variety of sizes and styles. Our team includes production and materials planners, supervisors, machinists, welders and assembly technicians. We work closely with our Technical team – Manufacturing and Design Engineering – to gather all information, processes, design conditions, etc. to successfully execute each project.
