A Snapshot of Your Day
This Lead Technician role is pivotal in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of a wind farm. The day-to-day involves overseeing work execution, monitoring turbine performance, and actively supporting technicians in maintenance and troubleshooting tasks, ensuring priorities are aligned through daily safety briefings and team check-ins. Regular site walks are essential to verify work quality and enforce stringent safety protocols. Key responsibilities include conducting safety inspections, managing inventory and warehouse needs, and reviewing service order dispatches and closures. The Lead Technician collaborates closely with Service Operations Management and Planning to coordinate staffing and lead site operations, while also engaging with supporting functions to meet site profitability and contractual availability targets. This leadership position demands quick, informed decision-making to maintain operational continuity, especially during unexpected issues or challenging weather conditions. The Lead Technician is instrumental in fostering a focused, safe, and productive team environment, championing a proactive safety culture, and contributing to the delivery of clean energy and environmental stewardship.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance of the wind farm ○ Oversee work execution and monitor turbine performance. Coordinate headcount and lead site operations in collaboration with management. Act as the key liaison between site operations and corporate leadership
- Conduct daily safety briefings and team check-ins. Perform safety inspections and enforce safety protocols. Champion safety culture, risk management, and compliance. Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Support technicians in carrying out maintenance and troubleshooting tasks. Verify work quality through regular site walks. Empower the team through hands-on leadership, coaching, and development
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to identify and implement improvements. Optimize asset performance to drive operational excellence. Contribute to the delivery of clean energy and environmental stewardship initiatives
- Manage inventory and warehouse needs. Review service order dispatches and closures. Work with supporting functions to ensure site profitability and contractual availability targets are met
What You Bring
- HS Diploma with preference of bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 2-5 years’ experience in Wind Industry preferred
- Knowledge of SAP and Work Order systems preferred
- Ability to climb wind towers
- Team leadership, coaching, and performance management
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
