A Snapshot of Your Day
Join Siemens Gamesa as an Intern in our Loads Design & Validation Department in Madrid, where you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of renewable energy. Imagine defining and modifying wind turbine models for aeroelastic calculations, performing simulations under various design conditions, and analyzing the loads and dynamics of wind turbines. You will collaborate with control and component departments, contributing to the development of innovative technologies that enhance wind turbine design and validation. This is your opportunity to immerse yourself in a highly technical environment while building a professional network in a global company dedicated to sustainability.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Define and modify wind turbine models for aeroelastic calculations.
- Perform simulations in different design conditions using aeroelastic codes (e.g., BHawC).
- Preprocess and postprocess results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Analyze loads and dynamics of wind turbines to support design improvements.
- Collaborate with control and component departments to enhance overall turbine performance.
What You Bring
- Recently graduated or in the final stages of a Master’s Thesis or PhD in Aeronautics, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge in aerodynamics, structural design, structural dynamics, or control systems.
- Additional training in wind energy, such as wind turbine aerodynamics and performance is a plus.
- Familiarity with wind turbine design standards (IEC61400-1, DNVGL) and experience in load analysis using programs like GH Bladed, FLEX5, or FAST is advantageous.
- Strong initiative, analytical skills, and a willingness to learn, along with fluent English proficiency; Spanish is a plus.
About the Team
You will be part of a dynamic team that values empowerment, diversity, and continuous learning. Our interns benefit from a robust mentoring system and advanced training, receiving excellent feedback from previous interns who often wish to continue their careers with us. The team consists of 3-4 interns collaborating closely, ensuring a supportive and engaging work environment. The work is highly technical and diverse, providing opportunities to learn across various aspects of wind turbine design and validation.
