Snapshot of your Day

As a High Voltage (HV) Superintendent – Self-Perform Installation & Commissioning, you will be a key field leader responsible for the safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of substation and transmission projects using Siemens Energy’s in-house crews. You will lead field teams in the direct installation, wiring, testing, and commissioning of high voltage systems, working hands-on where needed to ensure technical accuracy and schedule adherence.

This is not a purely oversight role—you will be expected to be in the field, boots-on-the-ground, leading by example. You will coordinate work plans, enforce EHS standards, troubleshoot technical issues, and serve as the main on-site interface between project management, engineering, and field operations. Your expertise will directly support the successful delivery of complex grid infrastructure critical to enabling a low-carbon, resilient energy future.

This position requires a high level of autonomy, accountability, and adaptability. Projects may involve greenfield substations, brownfield upgrades, transmission expansions, with voltages ranging from 115kV up to 765kV. Travel to various project sites across North America is required

How to make an Impact

· Lead in-house crews in the installation, assembly, wiring, and testing of high voltage equipment (GIS, AIS, transformers, protection & control systems) ranging from 115kV to 765kV.
· Develop and execute daily work plans, allocate resources, and supervise craft labor to meet productivity, quality, and safety standards.
· Perform hands-on installation and testing alongside crews when needed to ensure high-quality execution and adherence to technical requirements.
· Coordinate with project management, engineering, and commissioning teams to align field activities with project schedules and technical specifications.
· Enforce Siemens Energy’s EHS standards, maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient job site at all times.
· Document installation progress and support commissioning, including functional checks, energization, redlines, and mentoring of crew members for skill development

What You Bring

· High School diploma or GED plus a min 10 years of hands-on field experience in high voltage substation construction and commissioning, including leadership of craft labor teams.
· Expert knowledge of HV systems, installation practices, and industry standards such as IEEE, NETA, NEC, and NESC.
· Proficient in self-performing installation, testing, and commissioning activities with internal crews, including protection & control systems.
· Skilled in interpreting construction drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and test plans.
· Proven ability to execute work safely and efficiently in fast-paced, high-risk field environments across North America.
· Certifications and credentials such as OSHA 30, NETA, and a valid driver’s license; able to obtain site access clearances and travel extensively.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
