A Snapshot of Your Day
In response to rising demand for HVDC technology, we are establishing a dedicated UK team focused on delivering future projects, including transient network analysis and advanced performance testing laboratory facilities.
As a Team Leader in control and protection studies for HVDC, you will guide a team of engineering specialists in designing and implementing HVDC control and protection solutions for wind farm grid connections and interconnectors.
Your role will involve fostering team growth alongside fellow Team Leads to create a cohesive global delivery function. You will report to the Head of Control and Protection in the UK and the Global Studies Department Head in Germany.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Manage an engineering team of up to 20 employees focused on HVDC control and protection studies, including personnel planning and development.
- Develop and define control and protection technology for high-voltage direct current transmission systems.
- Coordinate and innovate future concepts and solutions in collaboration with other technical teams.
- Supervise team performance on international projects, ensuring adherence to cost, time, and quality standards.
- Strategically align team development with market and customer demands.
- Deploy and train employees from regional businesses and centers of competence worldwide.
- Oversee project management tasks, including concept clarification, customer engagement, and documentation.
- Conduct dynamic performance studies for HVDC projects, optimizing converter behavior, analyzing sub-synchronous interactions, developing simulation models, providing customer training, and supporting project management.
What You Bring
- University degree or equivalent experience in electrical power engineering or control engineering in combination with a power systems relevant MSc/PhD degree, and experience in the power engineering industry.
- Good knowledge in high voltage applications, power transmission systems, power electronics and HVDC technology.
- Expertise in control engineering and modelling of HVDC systems in the time domain and frequency domain.
- Professional user of typical power system simulation programs (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC, MATLAB/Simulink, EMTP-RV).
- Excellent interpersonal skills to navigate customer interactions and negotiate optimally.
- Proficient English mandatory (spoken and written), German preferable.
- Outstanding team skills, initiative, and customer orientation.
