A Snapshot of Your Day

 As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in our Global Classification Team, you will bring deep technical expertise in tariff classification and play a pivotal role in shaping governance, driving innovation, and ensuring operational excellence across the organization. Partnering with the Head of Global Classification, you will help design, refine, and maintain global classification guidelines, leveraging the harmonized HS system to ensure consistency, compliance, and scalability.

In this cross-functional role, you will collaborate with teams worldwide to build and enhance robust classification processes, contribute to the development and global rollout of a standardized classification framework, and champion the adoption of AI-driven customs classification solutions. You will serve as a trusted advisor on complex classification matters—identifying risks, mitigating exposures, and continuously improving processes, execution, and output quality.

Your expertise will also extend to mentoring and providing technical guidance to classification teams across regions, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and efficient practices worldwide.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Serve as the go-to technical expert for complex and high risk customs classification cases, ensuring accurate and compliant outcomes.
  • Define, harmonize, and continuously improve global classification processes and governance frameworks to maintain consistency and scalability.
  • Lead the implementation and expansion of AI driven customs classification solutions, overseeing data quality, model validation, and successful business adoption.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to shape the target IT landscape and digital process models supporting classification excellence.
  • Drive classification related risk management by identifying, assessing, and mitigating compliance risks while ensuring global quality and efficiency standards.
  • Analyze trends and data to detect systematic risks, uncover optimization opportunities, and manage cost impacts, while providing training and knowledge sharing to global classification teams.

What You Bring 

  • Degree in customs, engineering, international trade, data/analytics, or a related discipline, with extensive experience in customs tariff classification in a global environment.
  • Strong expertise in interpreting and applying the Harmonized System (HS) across multiple jurisdictions, with proven capabilities in process definition, standardization, and continuous improvement.
  • Solid understanding of risk management principles in customs and trade compliance, and ability to translate legal requirements into operational processes, controls, and IT/AI solutions.
  • Proven analytical skills to assess risks, identify cost impacts, and develop scalable solutions; exposure to AI, automation, or digital technologies in customs or trade compliance is a strong advantage.

  •     Experience in knowledge sharing, mentoring, and serving as a recognized center of expertise within the customs classification domain.
