A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Control Engineer - C&P HVDC you will work within a team of HVDC/C&P project management and engineering specialists to design and deliver full HVDC control and protection solutions for both wind farm grid connections and interconnectors making use of a new transient network analysis laboratory located in Manchester.

You will report to the Engineering Manager - HVDC C&P and will be required to provide engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives.

How You'll Make an Impact

• Design of open and closed loop control systems for high voltage direct current systems (HVDC).
• Preparation of design specifications, documentation, and effort estimations.
• Clarification of technical requirements within the project teams as well as with customers and suppliers.
• Implementation of control software in MATLAB/SIMULINK as well as verification using simulation tools and real-time test environments.
• Remote support of the commissioning team during the commissioning phase
• Remote support of the service team during the warranty phase
  
  

What You Bring

• Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical engineering or a comparable field of study
• Long term professional experience of energy and control technology
• Good knowledge in converter- and high voltage technology, as well as in open and closed loop controls
• Good MATLAB/SIMULINK knowledge including model-based implementation and verification
• Experience in the configuration of automation systems, preferably SIMATIC TDC / S7
