A Snapshot of Your Day

As a balance of plant process engineer at Siemens Energy, you will work on modifications and upgrades of existing thermal power plants. This helps our clients to stay competitive in a more and more challenging market environment and supports the necessary steps into a decarbonized future of energy. You will be for example working on the implementation of gas turbine upgrades providing higher power output and efficiency e.g. by retrofitting of a fuel gas preheating system or upgrade products which increase operational flexibility e.g. by faster start-up and shutdown times. Additionally, you are supporting our customers by provision of engineering expertise to answer specific question on plant operation or by taking part in site assessments.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Improvements of operational flexibility and efficiency of the existing power plant portfolio are an important step into the decarbonization of the energy system
  • Checking, designing, detailing and modifying balance of plant systems and components for gas and steam turbine power plants (GUD) as well as other types of power plants, especially for service projects
  • Covering the process engineering tasks in the proposal and project implementation phase, that means e.g. preparing system P&IDs and descriptions, component design data sheets and developing and designing automation concepts including T3000 logics
  • Site visits for assessments and implementations mainly in combined cycle power plants in region Europe assure close contact to our customer to understand their requests and needs
  • The processing of technical R&D topics in the field of technology and product development is just as much a part of your tasks as the system and component design with the aim of optimizing the overall cost of the product or improving products. This can make the difference by offering holistic solutions to our clients helping them to stay competitive.
What You Bring
  • Successfully completed university studies in the field of mechanical engineering, process engineering or control technology
  • Several years of professional experience in the system and process design, automation and commissioning of power plants or chemical processes as well as experience in automation and control tasks
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical components, such as valves, pumps and heat exchangers
  • Sound knowledge of the Teleperm XP and T3000 automation systems is desirable
  • Overall view of the field of power plant technology and knowledge of the process engineering contexts
  • Very good German and English skills
