A Snapshot of Your Day
As an Indirect Tax Professional, you will drive end‑to‑end GST compliance, indirect tax strategy, and litigation management across the organization. Your day involves ensuring timely statutory filings, managing department queries, collaborating with internal stakeholders, and representing the company in front of statutory authorities. You will oversee tax assessments, evaluate legislative changes, coordinate with legal experts, and guide your team to deliver high‑quality outcomes. This role demands strong analytical skills, compliance rigor, stakeholder management, and the ability to navigate complex taxation matters with precision and confidence.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Ensure full compliance with monthly GST payments, return filings, reconciliations, and MIS reporting.
- Oversee adherence to all statutory and regulatory requirements across indirect taxation.
- Stay updated with evolving GST and indirect tax laws; assess and communicate business impact.
- Manage GST audits and pre‑GST assessment proceedings conducted by tax authorities.
- Respond promptly and accurately to queries from statutory bodies and internal tax departments.
- Drive timely action on appeals, ensuring effective representation and documentation.
- Liaise with lawyers and coordinate representation before statutory bodies, tribunals, and courts.
- Ensure high‑quality submission of replies to departmental notices and queries.
- Implement and maintain efficient documentation systems for returns, replies, audit papers, litigation documents, and record retrieval.
- Lead, mentor, and monitor the indirect tax team to ensure alignment with organizational values and goals.
- Drive indirect tax strategy, identify tax planning opportunities, and implement compliance‑driven solutions.
- Travel across various states (as required) for assessments, audits, and representation.
What You Bring
- CA / CMA / LLB qualification preferred; candidates with strong relevant experience may also be considered.
- 10–15+ years of experience in indirect taxation, preferably in a SAP‑enabled ERP environment.
- Prior experience in Big Four consulting and/or a large manufacturing organization is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of GST, indirect tax regulations, litigation processes, and tax planning frameworks.
- Excellent negotiation, representation, and drafting skills.
- Proven experience in leading and managing tax teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, MS Office, and ERP systems, especially SAP.
- A collaborative, detail‑oriented, and compliance‑focused mindset.
