A Snapshot of Your Day
Siemens Energy’s Regional Pension Management department in the Americas region is responsible for the oversight and management of over $5 billion of benefit plan assets and liabilities, primarily the Defined Benefit (“DB”), Defined Contribution (“DC”) and Deferred Compensation plans and trusts! The department leads assets, operations and related regulatory/management reporting for benefit plans in the US, Canada, Mexico, and throughout the Americas. Siemens Energy's Group Pensions Department in Munich, Germany oversees regional pension management and strategy. This includes leading pension assets and risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The Americas Regional Pension Management team has team members based in both United States and Canada.
This role will report to the Regional Pensions Manager of Americas and have exposure to a broad array of pension management responsibilities across multiple countries. It is responsible for the financial management associated with plan design, funding, investment and governance activities of the Siemens Energy benefit plans in the region.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Oversight of pension management programs and operations across multiple countries; manage relationships with external investment managers, custodians, consultants, actuaries, auditors and other service providers
- Lead initiatives to transform existing processes through collaboration with the service providers to improve efficiency and accuracy of various reporting. For funded plans, the candidate will lead periodic asset-liability studies, evaluate, recommend and implement related outcomes
- Oversee the end-to-end portfolio financial management in the areas of liquidity management, hedging execution, rebalancing, structural change in the portfolio and prepare performance and governance reporting for pension committees and ensure service providers’ compliance with guidelines
- Work closely with other internal stakeholders and external auditors to ensure accurate and timely reporting; prepare legally required annual reporting documents
- Support in plan design initiatives through financial analysis, taking into account local market practices and adherence to overall corporate pension policies
- Maintain and lead service provider reports, contracts, and agreements for all plans and trusts and coordinate asset transfers in/out of benefit plans due to M&A activity; support other projects as needed
What You Bring
The candidate should have strong analytical and organizational skills with a dedication to accuracy and attention to detail, good judgment, and ability to work independently within a defined scope of responsibility.
- University degree in Finance/Accounting or related discipline as well as other professional designation, i.e. CPA, CFA, actuarial, is highly desirable
- 5+ years experience in the institutional retirement industry directly involved in the financial management of the retirement programs or in a consultancy capacity, particularly in the United States and Canada retirement landscape
- Strong understanding of the capital markets and the ability to learn and collaborate with other technical experts and solid understanding of accounting/pension liability concepts to successfully support the Group’s balance sheet risk management objectives
- Strong grasp of the current technologies and demonstrate the use in the improvement of daily work and demonstrated strong project management skills
- Strong communication skills and confirmed ability to interact with other departments and external parties
- Required amount of travel with the position: ~5% and required knowledge, skills, or expertise: MS Office Suite; strong analytical skills; attention to detail
