The position is central to steering a portfolio of approximately €1B, providing high-quality planning, transparent budgeting, and essential decision support for the Executive Board. To meet these objectives, the role is structured around three core areas: strategic R&D portfolio and budget management, functional excellence and process improvement, and the advancement of data analytics.
This focus ensures the alignment of R&D investments with corporate strategy, enhances the efficiency and reliability of planning processes, and leverages data to drive insights and decision-making. Given the focus on portfolio steering and executive-level reporting, the ideal candidate will possess a strong background in R&D portfolio management, corporate strategy, or controlling.
Key requirements include advanced analytical and financial modeling skills, experience creating compelling narratives for senior leadership, and a proven ability to manage complex projects in a global environment.
How You’ll Make an Impact
R&D Portfolio & Budget Management
- Drive the global R&D budget cycle, ensuring the Executive Board receives transparent, scenario-ready decision documents based on strategy and data quality. Steer the R&D portfolio against corporate strategy by identifying opportunities to accelerate, rebalance, or reduce investments, and prepare clear storylines for executive-level decisions.
- Deliver high-quality analyses and materials that synthesize financials, technology value, and portfolio dynamics into concise insights for major decision forums.
Functional Excellence & Process Improvement

How You’ll Make an Impact
R&D Portfolio & Budget Management
- Drive the global R&D budget cycle, ensuring the Executive Board receives transparent, scenario-ready decision documents based on strategy and data quality. Steer the R&D portfolio against corporate strategy by identifying opportunities to accelerate, rebalance, or reduce investments, and prepare clear storylines for executive-level decisions.
- Deliver high-quality analyses and materials that synthesize financials, technology value, and portfolio dynamics into concise insights for major decision forums.
Functional Excellence & Process Improvement
- Advance functional excellence by driving standardization, harmonizing business case logic, and improving data governance across Business Areas.
- Automate and enhance R&D planning and reporting processes to make them faster, more reliable, and less dependent on manual effort, including deploying AI-based solutions to transform R&D planning, reduce manual work, improve consistency, and accelerate the generation of insights.
Data Analytics & Strategic Initiatives
- Build and scale data and digital excellence by developing dashboards, analytics workflows, and 'data products' connected to the central R&D database. Serve as a subject matter expert for the R&D database, ensuring it remains the single source of truth for all R&D data.
- Support strategic initiatives such as the R&D Academy to foster capability building, adoption of best practices, and future-ready R&D management skills.
What You Bring
- Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Data/Analytics, or a related field. A PhD is considered a plus.
- 5–7 years of professional experience in R&D portfolio management, corporate strategy, controlling, PMO, or adjacent fields.
- Experience in industries such as energy, industrial technology, aerospace, automotive, or management consulting is beneficial.
- English fluency required
