A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer – Large Gas Turbine Assembly, you will play a critical role in ensuring that complex large gas turbine engines are assembled, tested, and delivered in full compliance with internal quality systems, customer requirements, and applicable international standards.

You will partner closely with engine assembly operations, manufacturing engineering, project management, and inspection teams to embed quality into every phase of engine assembly—from incoming components through final engine test and customer handover. This role requires deep technical judgment, hands-on shop floor engagement, and strong ownership of Internal Product Process Qualification, nonconformance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Own production quality support for Large Gas Turbine engine assembly, ensuring compliance with internal procedures, customer specifications, and contractual quality requirements.
  • Lead nonconformance management with prevention mindset, including identification, containment, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa / Fishbone, Kepner-Tregoe (KT), FMEA).
  • Develop, maintain, and execute Manufacturing Quality Control Plans (MQCPs), inspection and test plans (ITPs), and iPPQ documentation specific to engine assembly processes.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure assembly process risks are identified and mitigated through pFMEA, control plans, and mistake-proofing solutions.
  • Support engine assembly qualification and milestone reviews, including customer witness points, audits, and readiness reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable international and customer standards (e.g., ISO, ASME, ASTM, DIN, EN standards when applicable).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and Siemens Energy Production System methodologies and process audits to improve engine quality, reliability, and cycle time.
  • Analyze quality KPIs, lead quality cockpit discussions, and create transparency through data-driven insights.
  • Coach and mentor Quality Inspectors, Technicians and Assembly Technicians to strengthen quality culture on the shop floor.
  • Serve as a key interface between Operations, Manufacturing and Design Engineering, Project Management, and Customers on quality matters.
  • Own and execute quality processes in SAP QM from quality planning through final product release, including inspection plans, inspections (incoming, in‑process, final), quality notifications, nonconformance and CAPA management, usage decisions, and release of engine assemblies in line with iPPQ, manufacturing milestones, and customer requirements.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing or production quality, preferably in large rotating equipment, gas turbines, aerospace, or heavy industrial assembly.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and Six Sigma Green Belt certifications are preferred.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with engine or complex mechanical assembly processes and quality validation.
  • Demonstrated experience leading root cause analysis and corrective action implementation in a production environment.
  • Solid understanding of APQP / PPQ concepts, including pFMEA, control plans, and process qualification.
  • Working knowledge of international engineering and quality standards (ISO, ASME, ASTM, DIN, EN); exposure to nuclear or high-reliability standards is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement tools (Green Belt or equivalent certification preferred).
  • Experience with SAP and quality data systems is strongly preferred.
  • Exposure to inspection techniques, NDE methods, and dimensional measurement systems (CMMs, digital scanning; PC-DMIS / QUINDOS a plus).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence across shop floor teams, engineering, leadership, and customers.
  • High ownership mindset, data-driven thinking, and comfort operating in a dynamic engine assembly manufacturing environment.
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
