A Snapshot of your day
As a IT Systems & Cyber Engineer, you will support implementing NIS2 / CAF framework, such as vulnerability management, patch management and obsolescence management. Respond to technical problems, breakdowns and customer queries relating to systems and solutions covered by service level agreements. Deliver functional improvements to existing sites via small projects. Contributing to improve and develop business processes, procedures and tools.
How you’ll make an impact
- Lead in delivering and maintaining solutions for crucial IT infrastructure in HVDC transmission, FACTS, and Wind Farm projects.
- Responsible for the administration of operating systems (Windows-based, Linux-based), including installation, configuration, user authentication, system health monitoring, backup, and restore.
- Lead virtual environments (Hyper-V & VMware) and perform routine system monitoring, troubleshooting, and problem resolution to ensure maximum uptime and efficient system behavior.
- Ensure ongoing system maintenance, manage vulnerabilities, and implement "Cyber Security" concepts, including security measures, vulnerability scanning, and documentation.
- Plan and conduct training courses for internal employees and external customers regarding IT system administration, and maintain engineering relationships with internal business partners.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests, participate in IT-security audits, threat-risk workshops, and penetration tests, and ensure compliance with directives, frameworks, and certifications (e.g., NIS2 / CAF, ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus).
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree qualification in computer science/network/communication technology, or relevant professional training with 5+ years professional experience.
- Experience in PC administration, virtualization (preferable Hyper-V, or portable skills) and Active Directory management in small to medium scale organization. Experience in IT-security for industrial networks would be an advantage.
- Proven understanding of operating systems, software installation, and troubleshooting for Windows and Linux.
- Experience in project engineering, customer clarification, working in sophisticated teams.
- Very good English language skills including Technical English.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, network separation, zone concepts, etc. would be preferential.
- Basic Knowledge of switching, routing, firewall configuration from manufacturers such as CISCO, RuggedCom, Checkpoint, etc.
- Flexible to travel as per business requirements (Manchester, Newcastle, customer sites in UK and Europe)
