About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Legal Counsel, you will primarily support commercial contracts for the provision of new and after-market goods and services and suggest innovative ways to deal with contract requirements, negotiations, obligations, disputes, and exposures to business partners. The position will be based out of Siemens Energy offices in Houston, Texas and will primarily support Siemens Energy businesses throughout North America. Support of opportunities in Latin America may also be required.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Write, review, analyze, modify, and negotiate complex contractual documents to achieve acceptable risk levels.
- Write, review, analyze, modify, and negotiate settlement agreements, confidentiality agreements, letters of intent, changes to existing agreements for service and equipment, and other contractual terms and conditions.
- Summarize and prepare risk summaries for review and approval by management.
- Provide claims handling and litigation support, from time to time, for various matters including projects in execution.
- Provide support for corporate governance and compliance matters.
- Review and provide legal advice relating to high profile contracts, subcontracts, bids, equipment agreements, sales transactions, project implementation issues and general corporate matters.
- Conduct legal research and provide ongoing legal support within territory.
What You Bring
- Juris Doctorate is required.
- Must be currently admitted and maintain license to practice law in one or more states in the United States
- Minimum of 8 years of legal experience in a law firm or corporate in-house position and/or drafting and negotiating contracts in an energy/construction/contract's environment or equivalent litigation of same
- Strong negotiation skills, detail oriented, able to handle multiple demands at the same time.
- Strong customer orientation
- Pragmatic approach to problem solving and strong flexibility to adjust to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities.
- Team player who can also work independently and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely with a range of colleagues, business partners and senior executives.
- Excellent communication, writing, and facilitation skills
- Highly proficient technical skills in MS Office Suite
- Commercial transaction experience
