A Snapshot of Your Day

The Welding Supervisor’s Day starts either in an office environment, on-site or in a tooling facility. You will work with a team of welders, mechanical/ electrical engineers providing tasks, structuring the day, ensuring timely, and safe implementation of welding tasks with the required quality level. You will have created welding procedures or maintenance procedures, align specific requirements with your subcontractors, Back office, Project Management and Competence Center. You will engage hands-on in the welding process using complex mechanized welding equipment, ensuring that the welds are of quality and meet the required standards using different welding technologies on materials and components. You are responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications to understand requirements with regards to welding and/or welding equipment maintenance. Throughout the day, you are required to communicate with project manager, outage manager, other engineers, or team members to coordinate tasks, resolve technical issues, and ensure that the welding activities align with the overall project timeline and objectives.

Aside from on-site activities, you may be involved in research and development activities to explore new welding techniques, materials, or technologies to improve efficiency and quality in your field. You will be working closely with the tooling facilities for maintenance of the welding equipment taking ownership of the welding equipment in your area of responsibility, ensuring that the tooling is in proper working condition and quality. Safety is a constant consideration throughout your day, ensuring that all welding activities adhere to safety regulations to minimize the risk of accidents or hazards in the workplace.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Provide technical support and execute specialized welding processes on-site together with a small team of welders and technicians during Siemens Energy’s service activities including operation of customized mechanized welding system e.g., welding robot to perform complex repairs and component replacement installations.
  • Manage and maintain welding equipment in the tooling facilities including customized machine welding system, fixtures for fitness of use.
  • Plan equipment, workforce required to support on-site welding activities and align with FS Planning Engineers, Project Management and Center of Competence.
  • Co-ordinate, provide support and witness welder certification and performance review.
  • Review project specifications, codes & standards and develop welding procedures to specification and within regulatory restrictions, incl. pre- and post- heating for complex alloys, non-standard fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, pressurized pipes and vessels.
  • Develop and maintain corporate welding procedures (WPS) and welder performance qualification records (WPQRs)
  • Provide technical support in alignment of industry standards, specifications, for internal quality activities for welding related issues.
  • Evaluate suppliers welding procedures for technical adequacy and code conformance for specific job applications.
  • Participate in trainings, conferences, seminars based to remain up-to-date on the latest industry advancements.

What You Bring

  • Qualification as a Welding Supervisor in accordance with international standards with extensive hands-on experience in applying different welding technologies in industrial environment.
  • Additional work experience as mechanical fitter in manufacturing or maintenance environment with complex industrial equipment will be a significant benefit.
  • Extensive knowledge (theoretical/ practical) in welding process 111/141/135, knowledge of typical standards and regulations (e.g., AD 2000/ DIN EN 13480/ DIN EN ISO 3834/ etc.) and application
  • Profound understanding of technical equipment and ability to work with/based on technical documentation.
  • Digital literacy, confident user of relevant IT-applications (Microsoft Office), additional IT-competence will be helpful.
  • Pro-active, problem solving and ready to work attitude, readiness to take additional tasks to improve the status Quo if needed.
  • Understanding of relevant industry standards for Quality and HSE
  • Fluent in English Language (Written & Oral), other languages are added advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills with an affinity to technology and innovation in the service industry combined with a proactive and convincing attitude.
  • Great teammate with high level of resilience, the ability to work independently under pressure, multitask and focus on problem solving in a complex environment collaborating with international teams.
  • Willing to travel internationally on short notice and work flexible hours.
