A Snapshot of Your Day

The Siemens Energy (SE) Customs team supports SE businesses in all customs related matters, ensuring full compliance with applicable customs regulations and internal requirements in an optimal and efficient manner. The SE U.S. Customs Classification Manager supports the SE U.S. Customs Classification team with oversite, management and execution of all HTS classification activities!

This role reports to Head of Global Classification in the region and will be based at the U.S. HQ location in Orlando, FL or Charlotte, NC!

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Drive efficient and robust U.S. HTS classification and description procedures. Management of day-to-day HTS classification activity.
  • Directly supervises, mentors, develops, and assists the SE U.S. customs classification team members in the day-to-day HTS classification activities.
  • Analyze and aggregate the causes of HTS classification issues and delays in driving improvement actions with our partners and staff. Implement U.S. HTS classification compliance supervising through metrics.
  • Work with U.S. custom internal and external customers on all matters pertaining to U.S. HTS classification activities. Driving continuous improvement to standardize processes and develop procedures.
  • Support the development and implementation of SOPs and trainings for U.S. Customs classification team. Support with cross-functional projects related to HTS transactions.
  • Develop strong partnerships with SE U.S. business areas, communicating with functions across the organization regarding all transactional HTS classification activities. Drive financial optimization through compliant use of tariff engineering. Support the U.S. Customs Regulation team member and head of Customs North America on HTS classification regulatory matters.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of extensive experience in U.S. HTS classification, U.S. customs/international trade compliance. Bachelor's Degree—preferably in International Business or related field, Tax, or Finance.
  • U.S. customs broker license is preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving, Project skills; including analytics, implementation strategies, metric measurement and continuous monitoring expectations and deliverables. People Management and leadership experience.
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels within the organization to develop and deploy effective solutions and broader strategies. Hands-on experience in streamlining and digitization of manual processes. In depth knowledge of 19 CFR.
  • Global Trade Management technology/ERP experience such as: SAP, TR-One Source, MIC or other global trade management software. Ability to work independently. Strong written and verbal communication / interpersonal skills. Presentation skills.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
