A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will be part of the Quality Department and play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet stringent quality standards. Your day will involve leading the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and conducting Product Specification Reviews (PSR). You will manage supplier quality audits, perform a range of inspections including First Article, incoming, in-process, and final inspections, and evaluate and prepare reports on supplier quality issues and performance. Additionally, you will issue Quality Alerts/Notifications to suppliers, ensuring corrective actions are undertaken, while also developing continuous improvement ideas to enhance efficiency and productivity. Your role will involve evaluating and disposing of non-conforming material, supporting Purchasing and Finance in recovering non-conformance costs from suppliers, and preparing and providing training on Supplier Quality procedures and processes.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead Supplier Quality Processes: Manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Product Specification Reviews (PSR), and ensure supplier compliance through audits and quality alerts with follow-up on corrective actions.
- Inspection and Material Evaluation: Conduct First Article, incoming, in-process, and final inspections; evaluate and disposition non-conforming materials in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Supplier Performance and Issue Resolution: Analyze supplier quality issues, prepare performance reports, support cost recovery for non-conformances, and lead root-cause investigations (e.g., 8D, A3) with CAPA implementation.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Develop and implement efficiency and productivity improvements using SEI’s SIM/3i process and other lean methodologies.
- Training and Cross-Functional Collaboration: Provide training on Supplier Quality procedures, support Quality team initiatives, and contribute to High Impact Project teams.
- Quality Systems and Reporting: Maintain quality documentation, define test criteria, utilize tools like SAP and Shop Floor Management (SFM) for issue tracking, and lead mitigation actions.
What You Bring
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial) required
- 6 months or more of experience in industrial production. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa
- Experience in transformer manufacturing preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerancing (GD&T) including experience with measuring devices such as meters, gauges, calipers, and other measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and understand electrical/mechanical drawings and technical specifications; Strong written and verbal communication skills to relay complex ideas to a wide range of audiences.
- Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking to be able to spot problems quickly and find the underlying causes so changes can be made.
