A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Senior Project Manager at Siemens Energy, you will lead and support the execution of complex high‑voltage EPC and OEM energy infrastructure projects, including High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) and grid access solutions. You will be accountable for coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, EHS, and quality, while acting as a key interface to customers and internal stakeholders. From detailed project planning and risk management through cost control, contract administration, and performance reporting, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with technical, contractual, and quality requirements. In this role, you will play a critical part in achieving successful project outcomes and long‑term customer satisfaction. Preferably, this position will initially be site‑based in San Jose, California, supporting the delivery and commissioning of critical high‑voltage equipment for a major HVDC project. The role is pivotal to ensuring safe and successful execution in line with customer technical specifications and contractual commitments. Upon successful project completion, the role will be transitioned to the Siemens Energy Grid Technologies office in Raleigh, North Carolina to continue delivery of other projects.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- 50% HVDC Project Execution
- Own the end‑to‑end technical, commercial, and contractual execution of large‑scale EPC/OEM High Voltage energy projects (e.g. HVDC, Grid Access), from handover through commissioning and close‑out, ensuring delivery on schedule, within budget, and to contractual requirements.
- Act as the primary customer interface, building trusted relationships while actively managing scope, contractual obligations, claims, variations, and change orders to protect margin and project outcomes.
- Champion strong EHS and quality culture across all project phases, ensuring compliance with regulatory, customer, and company standards in live substations and construction environments.
- Establish and enforce robust project governance, controls, and EPC execution methodologies, including schedule management, cost control, risk registers, and reporting in line with OEM and customer requirements.
- Drive lessons‑learned, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen execution capability, reduce repeat issues, and improve delivery performance across the project portfolio
- 30% Team Leadership & Development
- Lead multi‑disciplinary, multinational teams across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, EHS, and quality, providing clear direction, delegation, and coaching to drive accountability and results.
- Coordinate effectively with internal functions, consortium partners, subcontractors, and suppliers to manage complex technical and commercial interfaces typical of HVDC and grid projects.
- 20% Stakeholder & Risk Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers, managing relationships and ensuring satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead negotiations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors regarding contracts, change orders, and issue resolution.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between all internal and external project stakeholders.
- Proactively identify execution, commercial, interface, and supply‑chain risks typical to complex energy projects, implementing mitigation strategies and capitalizing on opportunities to enhance project performance and profitability.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or Civil), or relevant preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 8 or more years of comprehensive project management experience, with substantial experience in the high-voltage, power transmission, or utility sector. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
