A Snapshot of Your Day

This role is being created to establish a dedicated focus on Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) in Malaysia, driven by their planned large-scale grid extension and modernization projects to support growing data center demands.

As a new addition to the Grid Technologies Sales team in Malaysia, this position will be pivotal in capturing the significant business opportunities arising from this national infrastructure development. To effectively capitalize on this opportunity, the role is structured around three core areas: strategic account management dedicated to TNB, technical solution selling of our product and Digital Grid portfolio, and proactive market intelligence and project management.

This approach ensures deep customer engagement, the development of tailored technical solutions, and the effective management of the complex sales cycle associated with a key national utility. Given the focus on a high-value strategic account and complex technical sales, the ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert with extensive experience in the Malaysian energy sector.

Key requirements include a proven track record in technical sales or business development, deep knowledge of grid technologies, and demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects and client relationships with limited oversight.

How You’ll Make an Impact

50% Strategic Account Management & Business Development

    • Develop and execute a dedicated sales strategy to maximize business with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for Grid Technology products, solutions, and services.
    • Act as the primary relationship owner for TNB, building and maintaining strong connections with key decision-makers and influencers.
    • Identify and cultivate a robust pipeline of opportunities within TNB, aligning Siemens Energy's portfolio with their grid extension and upgrade plans.
    • Lead complex contract negotiations and the entire sales process from opportunity identification to closure for the TNB account.

30% Technical Solution Sales & Consultation

    • Articulate the technical and commercial value propositions of Siemens Energy's Digital Grid and hardware solutions to TNB stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to design and propose customized solutions that address TNB's specific technical challenges.
    • Conduct detailed market analysis of TNB's strategic direction, competitor activities, and technology needs to inform sales strategy.

20% Sales Operations & Project Management

    • Manage large-scale sales projects and processes for the TNB account with a high degree of autonomy, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
    • Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and detailed reports on account activities and market trends.
    • Coach and delegate work to junior professionals or support staff involved in the TNB account activities.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
  • Recognized subject matter expert with extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in technical sales, business development, or key account management within the energy or utility sector.
  • Proven experience managing large, complex accounts, preferably with national utility companies in Malaysia.
  • Business Strategy & Sales experience - Business Development, Customer Relationship Management, Go-to-Market Strategy, Business Acumen, etc
  • Marketing & Analysis - Market Research, Value Propositions, Forecasting, etc
  • Leadership & Project Management
