A Snapshot of Your Day

As a rail specialist within the Grid Technologies Order Execution Team, you will support the execution team in managing rail operations as it pertains to deliveries within the United States and Canada. Working with our contracted logistics suppliers and the railroads, your efforts will ensure a high quality, safe and on-time transportation concept is executed involving rail. Working with the railroads, you will optimize routes, clearances and placement of cars to support the overall project delivery plan. The railcar specialist may support scheduling of any SE managed railcars as needed.

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Ensure clearances and routes are approved in a timeline manner
  • Optimize routes to best utilize rail assets while maximizing on-time delivery and minimizing risk to cargo
  • Report on operational activities to include transit time and railcar utilization
  • Support proposal / sales phase with preparing project estimates for rail and identify high risk movements early
  • Maintain working relationship with all major railroads, identifying changs in network practices and informing internal stakeholders of changs that could impact project delivery performance.

 

What You Bring  

  • A degree in the transportation field is preferred but can be substituted with years of specific rail experience.
  • Seven plus years in rail operations including heavy and over dimensional moves
  • Ability to analyze data, identify market trends and effectively communicate the impact to a business
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and both verbal and written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative and proactively resolve any issues
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
