A Snapshot of Your Day

As Project Engineer – Electrical Systems, you will be a team member in the global project team for compressors and thus responsible for the order-specific engineering execution of Electrical Systems (E-drives, frequency converter, transformer, harmonic filter motor control centers etc.) within Turbo Compressor packages in consideration of the budget and customer specifications. The position will be based in Lodz, Poland, in a global, technical environment.


How You’ll Make an Impact


  • As a part of order execution team, you will lead and participate the technical clarifications/ meetings with customer, sub-suppliers and interdisciplinary technical clarifications concerning scope of electrical systems within contract.
  • You will be responsible for compliance of customer specifications along with internal and international design codes and standards as applicable. Preparation of technical specifications in accordance with customer specifications, internal/national/international design guidelines and standards for major electrical equipment’s and sub-systems. Review of specifications and comments & exceptions elaboration of client document list.
  • Selection/sizing of the accessories for cooling, control, monitoring and protection of medium voltage motors, converters and medium voltage transformers. Generate and issue requests-for-quotation for Medium Voltage-motors and Medium Voltage-converters based on project's specification and technical evaluation of supplier offers.
  • Develop and understand single line diagram (SLD) for motor control. Coordination of commissioning and compressor unit test runs with variable drive systems.
  • Support Project Team to define interfaces for Siemens Energy Electrical scope, e.g. E-Motor, client, Variable Frequency Drive supplier, excitation panel and other related components.
  • Issue Risk or Opportunity notification to Project Lead Engineer / Project Manager regarding project cost, schedule or equipment performance, including proposing of risk mitigation plans.


What You Bring


  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, is required in a similar role.
  • Proven experience with large electrical drives up to 100 MW and components like accessories for cooling, control, monitoring and protection of medium voltage motors, medium voltage converters (VSI and LCI) and medium voltage transformers (with ANSI designations)
  • Knowledge and application of Electric Motor design (syn- /asynchronous) according IEC60034, NEMA MG 1 and API 541/546/670. Knowledge and application of Explosion Protection Methods according to IEC 60079 and NFPA 70 NEC 500/505
  • Basic Knowledge of MV-Converter topologies (VSI vs. LCI) and understanding the context between load curve of driven machine and characteristic motor starting diagrams
  • At least 2 years Co-ordinating with multiple parties’ projects including internal project team members, client staff, vendors, sub-consultants and general contractors.
  • Strong communication skills, team player, willingness to work in global set up and multi-cultural environment, good knowledge of spoken and written English language skills.
