Sobre el papel
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Master’s thesis student, you will contribute to the investigation of anisotropic material behavior in nickelbased superalloys used in gas turbine hotsection components. These components operate under extreme thermomechanical conditions, where anisotropy in elastic, plastic, and creep behavior can significantly influence stress redistribution, deformation, and structural integrity. Your daily activities will include a literature review, investigation and implementation of anisotropic material modelling approaches, and performing finite element (FE) simulations using tools such as ABAQUS. The work will focus on studying how different assumptions regarding material isotropy or anisotropy affect the structural response under representative loading conditions relevant to gas turbine operation. You will work closely with experienced engineers, benefiting from regular technical discussions and exposure to industrial analysis practices.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Perform a literature review on anisotropic material behavior.
- Apply and compare isotropic and anisotropic material modelling approaches.
- Investigate the influence of anisotropy on stress, strain, time‑dependent deformation.
- Discuss the engineering relevance of modelling assumptions for component analysis.
What You Bring
- Background in solid mechanics with interest in material constitutive modelling.
- Good knowledge of material behaviour of metallic materials.
- Working knowledge of ABAQUS and mesh tools.
- Interest in material modelling, finite element analysis, and high‑temperature applications.
- Curiosity to link theoretical concepts with practical, industrially relevant problems.
- Willingness to learn and collaborate in a technical engineering environment.
- Knowledge of ABAQUS subroutines is a merit.
