Head of Commodity Management - Distributes Blades and Vanes


Siemens Energy Gas Service Distributed Procurement (SE GS D P) is looking for a dedicated and experienced Commodity Manager to oversee the supply of Turbine Blades and Vanes across all product lines within Gas Services. You will also be managing a small team. 


A snapshot of your day:


The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive commodity strategies, ensuring alignment with all product lines, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives. Key duties include setting short-, medium-, and long-term goals, building strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring market trends, and adjusting procurement strategies as required.


This position requires effective management of team members located in multiple time zones within a global organization and reports functionally to the Head of Procurement for Blades and Vanes.


How you'll make an impact:


  • Develop, implement, and manage supply chain strategies for both existing and future product ranges under your purview.
  • Ensure a reliable network of suppliers and supply availability to meet sales and operational requirements.
  • Lead the development and execution of commodity strategies, forming a commodity circle in collaboration with other functions to ensure proactive business engagement.
  • Work closely with business management to capture their requirements (cost, quality, lead time, capacity, etc.) and provide regular feedback through key performance indicators.
  • Guarantee suitable strategic sourcing options are available, including dual/multiple sourcing and regional or low-cost country alternatives.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to facilitate changes that enable optimal solutions within the commodity strategy, including the integration of new technologies.
  • Manage commercial relationships with key suppliers by conducting on-site visits and leading quarterly business reviews addressing contract status, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Secure contractual coverage through negotiation of framework and price agreements with key suppliers.

What you bring:


  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the relevant field.
  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of engineering, production, procurement, and logistics processes.
  • Preferred experience in casting and coating technologies.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and knowledge of contract terms and conditions.
  • Customer-centric approach with the ability to build strong collaborator relationships.
  • Proven leadership skills in a global business setting.
  • Proficient command of English, both written and verbal, with experience delivering verbal presentations.
  • Willingness to undertake business travel as required.
