A Snapshot of Your Day

This role will require a self-motivated, experienced engineer with strong leadership and technical skills to join the Generator Field Operations (GN FO) team in the A-Region (Charlotte, NC). The position will provide technical support after shipment of generators from the factory and through commissioning and the warranty period to final acceptance close out (FAC).

The Generator Field Operations Engineer will lead multi-functional teams to timely resolve forced outages, recurring events, building root cause and/or solution consensus through project solving methods and leadership. Additional training and qualification will also be provided. Product knowledge of generator and prior experience in design, manufacturing, or field engineering desired. How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Support the GN FO team day to day operations and PCM (Product Change Management) execution. Answer site generated PCM’s issues identification and work with engineering for technical resolution.
  • Position may include traveling to customer sites, suppliers, and other manufacturing sites to resolve technical issues.
  • Lead Task Force efforts, problem resolution and close out. Determine how to avoid these issues in future, document findings and present to management.
  • Collaborate with the various engineering groups to ensure successful resolution to design/maintenance/operations field issues.
  • Present technical solutions to internal and external customers. Create technical and legal binding documents intended to be shared with end user.
  • Closely coordinate with the Mulheim, Germany’s Field Operation organization to ensure that all process-related initiatives fit into the global process landscape.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 5+ years of experience in power generation field.
  • Familiarity with PCM execution and various root cause analysis methodologies (KT, Apollo, Fault Tree, FMEA).
  • Experience in troubleshooting power plant equipment a plus!
  • Knowledge of BOP (balance of plant) auxiliary systems beneficial.
  • Effective communication (verbal and written) skills across distributed teams.

Gas Services

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.

The Product Integrity (PI) Field Operations (FO) group supports the A-Region gas turbine, steam turbine and generator issues that arise during the commissioning and warranty phase of a project. Members of the FO group develop complex processes and technical support to engineering, production, projects, and/or other departments. They have expertise in multiple engine systems (GT/ST/GN) and provide engineering design solutions and procedures. They act as engineering representatives in meetings with key customers or key projects. They also interface and interact with multiple multi-functional teams as required. In addition, the team also supports Fact Finding engineering to Siemens Energy organizations.
