A Snapshot of Your Day
The Generator Electrical Diagnostics Engineer, you will implement robotic inspections and evaluate the results together with other senior personnel to advise the best solution to customer. As part of our experienced on-site Generator maintenance team, you providing guidance to other team members and/or execute technical tasks depending on the situation. Structuring the day of the team together with the Generator Site Lead he will ensure timely, and safe implementation of tasks with the required quality level in alignment with the overall project objectives. Throughout the day, he will communicate with project managers, outage managers, other engineers, Service Engineering, and customers to coordinate tasks, provide advise as the subject matter expert, resolve technical issues, and ensure that the Generator activities are completed. Providing support during planning of service activities, documentation and reporting as well as participation in lessons learned activities.
Aside from on-site activities, he may be involved in development activities to explore technologies to improve efficiency and quality in the relevant subject. He will be working closely with the tooling facilities for maintenance of the relevant diagnostics equipment, ensuring that the equipment is in proper working condition and quality. Safety is a constant consideration throughout his day, ensuring that all activities adhere to safety regulations and best practices to minimize the risk of accidents or hazards in the workplace.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Implement robotic inspections, fact finding and specialized electrical Generator diagnosis activities including evaluation and interpretation of the results to Siemens Energy and international standards.
- Advising projects and customers on the status and required maintenance of their equipment.
- Act as subject matter expert during scheduled and unscheduled Generator Maintenance activities, overhaul, repair, modification, and upgrade within the duration, resource allocation, spare parts, reporting, quality and HSE.
- Take ownership on specialized testing equipment including inspection and maintenance on site and in our tooling warehouse during outage preparation phase. Schedule and project-manage external equipment maintenance activities for the relevant equipment.
- Arrange, coordinate, and control logistics, internal resources, and subcontractor resource activities on site for the relevant area of activity.
- Prepare daily shift activities, co-ordinate with adjacent equipment maintenance activities, ensure clear shift handover with peers, lead, and communicate clearly on job requirements to personnel and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure proper documentation and timely submission of assessment results and evaluations, check sheets, spare parts lists, daily shift activities, status report, field reports on relevant activities during all outages.
- Support outage planning activities with project engineers, project managers, tooling facilities engineers, outage manager and HSE professional.
- Provide guidance, training and mentoring for the development and cross-skilling of Siemens Energy Work force and sub-contractors.
- Actively implement creative problem solving of technical issues within own area of responsibility in alignment with Site and Project Management and applicable QHSE standards and actively support the continuous improvement of tools, equipment, technical processes for Siemens Energy outage execution.
- Actively support with post outage activities such as lesson learn documentation, tooling and equipment damage report, survey and feedback on demand.
What You Bring
- Diploma/ bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, and at least 5 years working experience either in high-voltage electrical equipment testing, electrical-mechanical systems diagnosis & maintenance and/or condition assessment of Generators, large electrical drives or electrical transformers.
- Profound level of understanding of electrical systems and Generators in particular, relevant mechanical and electrical testing methods and scientific interpretation of findings are a significant benefit.
- Specific working experience in Generator winding repair, Generator Auxiliary systems maintenance will be an added advantage.
- Solid understanding of electro-mechanical maintenance in general (disassembly, measuring etc.) and willingness to continuously work hands-on in Siemens Energy power systems maintenance activities across the Asia-Pacific region.
- Able to read, understand and independently work to drawings, specifications, and unit conversions in accordance with international codes and standards.
- Fluent English language skills both verbally and written and the ability to converse in a multicultural professional environment, further language skills are a plus.
- Excellent level of digital literacy, confident user of relevant IT-applications (Microsoft Office).
- Pro-active, problem solving and ready to work attitude, readiness to take additional tasks to improve the Status Quo if needed.
- Understanding and comply to HSE and Quality requirements and standards in the related field of work.
- Creative, livelong learner thriving to generate better solutions for technical issues at all times based on profound technical competence and own ingenuity.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work either independently or with multinational teams, in shift rotation with flexible hours, willing to work and travel independently and extensively.
