A Snapshot of Your Day

As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will play a critical role in the success of our power plant service operations. In this role, you will be responsible for site safety and environmental programs in support of our field teams who perform maintenance and upgrades to some of the largest and most powerful electrical generation machinery in the world including gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators, throughout the US and Canada. Required to attend the highly coveted Engineer in Training (EIT) program for 1 year in Orlando, Florida. The permanent position will be located in either Orlando, Florida or Houston, Texas.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • The EHS Specialist typically provided support on a 7x12 schedule when assigned to outage/maintenance projects. When not assigned to projects, the employee will support the Field Service and/or fixed facility locations on various EHS-related projects and in support of our Field Service organization including:
  • EHS-related training
  • Provide EHS compliance mentorship to project teams.
  • Perform EHS observations/audits of project sites.
  • Consult with customer representatives.
  • Provide post-incident case management.
  • Lead incident investigations.
  • Provide EHS data as required for Siemens Energy's internal reporting.
  • Lead site project safety programs including, Safety Meeting, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Rigging & Lifting, Scaffolding & Ladders, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials, and Material Handling.
  • Professional interaction with customer leadership and with SE senior leadership.
  • Craft Labor Safety Training
  • Reporting and site documentation
  • Human performance program
  • Environmental and chemical programs
  • Safety incident management, reporting, and investigation
  • Work with customers
  • Develop and improve safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with our world-wide EHS and technical staff.

What You Bring

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Safety & Occupational Health, Industrial Technology/Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Technology, Engineering, or similar. Experience.
  • Appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree or a formal education in EHS related field. Candidate should demonstrate an comprehensive knowledge of the EHS field, including concepts, practices, and procedures related to EHS. This position requires an understanding of OSHA, Worker's Compensation, EPA, DOT, and applicable State laws and how these regulations impact our business. Demonstrate knowledge and experience with root cause analysis (RCA) assessment and incident investigation. Typically, a minimum of 8-10 years of successful experience in a related field.
  • Candidates must be willing to relocate to Orlando FL. for the initial EIT training which would be a period of approximately 1 year. After that, candidate will permanently relocate to either Houston, TX. or Orlando, FL.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
