A Snapshot of Your Day

Are you passionate about solving complex aerodynamic challenges through advanced analysis and data-driven engineering? As a Compressor Aerodynamics Engineer at Siemens Energy Gas Turbine Engineering, you’ll join a global team dedicated to ensuring the performance and reliability of our leading-edge compressor blades, vanes, diffusors and other critical components. Here, your skills in aerodynamics and airfoil design powered by advanced CFD methods will make a real impact by pushing boundaries and driving technologies that power the world.

You will align with colleagues, convince the stakeholders and make decisions based on simplified low fidelity approaches or run a 3D full compressor CFD, create compressor maps or evaluate test and fleet data to find solutions for complex design tasks, or anything in between.

You will be part of a global, international team and closely collaborate with colleagues from adjacent disciplines, i.e. mechanical integrity, secondary air system, whole engine modelling, product definition, manufacturing and service to develop a design that is a balanced compromise between project requirements for performance, lifetime and costs.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Design, analysis and assessment of rotor & stator airfoils and flowpath, perform compressor performance evaluation as well as design optimization using 1D, 2D and 3D approaches
  • Develop and implement enhanced aerodynamic design tools and methods
  • Assess and evaluate test and field measurements, as well as fleet and service feedback
  • Provide timely field service support and solutions to manufacturing or customer issues
  • Drive a team through tough technical challenges
  • Lead internal and external research and development programs including management of outsourcing specific tasks

What You Bring

  • University degree in Aerodynamics, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering required
  • 3+years of aerodynamic design/analysis experience with rotating components for turbo-machinery or similar applications, with a strong background in axial compressors
  • Advanced knowledge of computational methods, i.e. CFD using ANSYS CFX, and coding experience with e.g. python to automize your workflows and process your data
  • Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and enjoy working with colleagues from different organizations and cultural backgrounds. Must be highly motivated, detail-oriented with an innovative thinking mindset and willing to take ownership of the product.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
