A Snapshot of Your Day
As Chief Engineer, you will lead end-to-end wind turbine product development and localization for the target market, turning customer and regulatory requirements into a clear product scope and a deliverable roadmap. You will drive cross-functional engineering execution (mechanical, electrical, controls, SCADA, manufacturing, quality, certification, supply chain) to launch new turbine products on time, on cost, and to performance and reliability targets.
How You’ll Make an Impact
•Lead new wind turbine product development from concept through design freeze, verification/validation, certification support, industrialization, and market launch.
•Own the product localization strategy for the target market: translate customer needs, site conditions, grid codes, standards, and statutory requirements into product and project requirements.
•Define and baseline the scope of the new product (performance, loads, reliability, cost, manufacturability, serviceability) and maintain requirement traceability throughout the lifecycle.
•Drive system engineering and technical decision making across key sub-systems (rotor, blades, drivetrain, generator, converter, tower/foundation interfaces, controls, SCADA, grid integration).
•Establish and manage technical plans, milestones, and deliverables; ensure on-time delivery of design packages, BOMs, models, manuals, and software releases.
•Lead technical risk management (design, supply chain, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, operations) including FMEA, design reviews, and mitigation plans.
•Partner with manufacturing and suppliers to industrialize the design, support localization of parts and processes, and achieve cost and quality targets.
•Provide executive-level technical leadership in customer, certification body, and key stakeholder engagements; present status, trade-offs, and recommendations.
•Build and lead a high-performing engineering team and a strong cross-functional interface; coach technical leaders and set a culture of quality and accountability.
•Ensure a robust lessons-learned and continuous improvement loop from field performance, commissioning feedback, and service data into future product updates.
What You Bring
•MS in Systems engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field required.
•Proven track record of leading the design and delivery of new wind turbine products from concept through launch.
•10+ years wind engineering experience in some capacity –engineering, operational engineering, product development.
•Working experience in managing multiple engineering tasks / issues / projects.
•Knowledge and experience in product configuration management tools like PLM, Team Center.
•Previous experience in cross functional and international teams.
•Have cross-disciplinary understanding of wind turbine sub-systems.
•Experience in technical / engineering support to customers.
•Ability to work and thrive independently and in a team environment.
•Language Skills: Mandarin Chinese; excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
•Proven track record of leading the design and delivery of new wind turbine products from concept through launch.
