A Snapshot of Your Day

Siemens Energy is seeking a highly skilled MATLAB Simulink Developer with expertise in modeling and simulating electrical, mechanical, and marine environments. The ideal candidate will have experience integrating Simulink models with Siemens S7 PLCs using SIMIT, Simulink PLC Coder, and OPC UA for real-time co-simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. This role supports the development of advanced marine power and energy systems for both commercial and naval applications.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Develop and validate high-fidelity models of electrical, mechanical, and marine systems using MATLAB/Simulink and Simcenter Amesim, including power electronics, drives, motors, drivetrain components, and environmental conditions such as wave dynamics and vessel motion.
  • Integrate simulation models with Siemens S7 PLCs using tools such as Simulink PLC Coder, SIMIT, and OPC UA for co-simulation, HIL testing, and real-time validation.
  • Support system design, implementation, and commissioning phases, ensuring model fidelity and real-time performance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate simulated electrical models into full vessel prototypes, supporting testing, commissioning, and field deployment.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards including IEC 60034, MIL-STD, and classification societies (ABS, DNV, Lloyd’s Register).
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation on simulation results, including recommendations for system enhancements in power monitoring, generation, and propulsion efficiency.

What We Offer:

  • Opportunity to work on next-generation crewed and uncrewed maritime platforms, applying simulation expertise to real-world propulsion and electrical challenges.
  • International collaboration teaming with global simulation and design experts and professional development in advanced simulation technologies.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, Massachusetts Maritime Academy - Certified Marine Engineer (CME), Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers - Professional Engineer (PE) Licensed; Master's preferred for senior roles.
  • 5+ years of experience in marine electrical engineering, with a focus on simulation of switchboards, propulsion, and electrical systems. Those with more experience may be considered for a more senior level.
  • 3+ years of experience in modeling and simulation of electrical, mechanical, and marine systems using MATLAB/Simulink and Simcenter Amesim preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in hybrid or harsh environments, including willingness to travel for on-site testing and integration.
  • Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or USCG licensing are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel and adapt to long-term projects (lasting several months) in various European countries, including Norway

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers. Must be eligible for or hold a Secret-level security clearance.
