Position Title: Wind Turbine Technician

A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Wind Turbine Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational performance and reliability of wind turbine assets across onshore sites in South Africa. You will perform hands-on maintenance, diagnostics, and repair activities while working in a dynamic and safety-driven environment.

This role is critical to maintaining turbine availability and involves working at heights, troubleshooting complex systems, and collaborating with the wider service operations team to deliver high-quality service.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Perform scheduled preventive and corrective maintenance on wind turbine systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components
  • Execute major component replacements and retrofits using specialized tools and equipment
  • Climb wind turbines to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair equipment in compliance with safety standards
  • Conduct torqueing, tensioning, and structural inspections to ensure mechanical integrity
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex faults in turbine control systems, SCADA systems, and electrical circuits
  • Analyze turbine performance data to identify trends, predict failures, and recommend improvements
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to junior technicians on complex issues
  • Strictly adhere to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and working-at-heights procedures
  • Complete detailed service reports, maintenance logs, and quality documentation
  • Manage and maintain tools, spare parts, and personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory

What You Bring

  • Technical or vocational qualification in Wind Energy, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Wind Turbine Technician
  • Strong experience with high-voltage electrical systems, hydraulics, and mechanical components
  • Proven troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and engineering drawings
  • Valid electrical trade certification is a plus
